Aiko Fushida (December 25, 1965 – October 24, 2020)

Beloved Mother, Wife, Sister, Friend, and Colleague

On October 24, 2020, Aiko Fushida passed away peacefully in her sleep in her home with her family and close friends around her after battling pancreatic cancer for 16 months.  She was born in Japan on December 25, 1965 in Kannoura, Kochi Prefecture, right by the ocean.  She had an international childhood, growing up in Japan, Colombia, Guyana, and Trinidad & Tobago where she picked up her love of spicy food and salsa dancing.  She then moved to the US to attend Duke University and graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1988.

On September 11, 1993, Aiko Fushida married the love her life, Yasu Nishida, in Japan.  The couple immigrated to the US in 1997, settling in the San Francisco Bay area.  On February 20, 2006, Aiko and Yasu's son, Kai Nishida was born in Hawaii, bringing another whole level of joy into their lives.

Aiko loved her career which she started by working in international roles for global companies. She later developed a passion for the startup world and was an advisor and  on the founding teams of several startups.  Aiko was very active in VLAB - the Silicon Valley high-tech forum focusing on fostering entrepreneurship in the community, where she held the roles of Chair & President, and then Board member until her passing.

Aiko was so full of life whether it be hosting a party at their house, skiing with her family, salsa dancing, watching Kai play soccer, eating spicy food, drinking sake, watching an uplifting movie, throwing herself into her job, running a VLAB event, taking care of an ill friend, and oh so much more.  She was so warm, loving, and caring to everyone in her life including her family, friends, colleagues, and more.  Knowing Aiko and spending time with her was a gift.

Aiko is survived by her devoted and loving husband Yasu Nishida and her adoring son Kai Nishida who live in Belmont, CA, and her brother Koji Fushida, who lives in Japan.  She will be dearly missed by thousands of friends around the world.  She is now with her beloved Father & Mother in heaven.

最愛の母、妻、姉妹、友人、そして同僚

節田安伊子は、2020年10月24日、膵臓がんと16か月間闘った末、家族や親しい友人が見守る中、自宅で安らかに眠りにつきました。

安伊子は日本生まれ、1965年12月25日に高知県甲浦の砂浜の近くの家に生まれました。子供時代を日本、コロンビア、ガイアナ、トリニダード・トバゴと国際的に過ごし、スパイシーな料理とサルサダンスへの愛情を抱き育ちました。その後、デューク大学に通うために米国に移り、1988年に化学の学士号を取得して卒業しました。

1993年9月11日 安伊子は、人生最愛の伴侶である西田靖と日本で結婚。1997年に夫婦で米国に移住、サンフランシスコベイエリアに移り住みました。息子の西田海は2006年2月20日にハワイで生まれ、安伊子と靖の生活に新たな大きな喜びをもたらしました。

安伊子は、キャリアウーマンとして活躍。グローバル企業で国際的な役割を担うことから始め、後にスタートアップの世界へ情熱を注ぐようになり、複数のスタートアップ企業でアドバイザー、または、創設チームの一員として活躍しました。彼女はVLAB(起業家精神の育成に焦点を当てたシリコンバレーのハイテクフォーラムのコミュニティ)にもアクティブに参加し、チェア、プレジデントのなどの役職を歴任。その後、亡くなるまでボードメンバーを務めていました。

安伊子の人生はとても活気に満ちていました。自宅でホームパーティーをホスト、家族でスキーに行ったり、サルサダンスに夢中となったり、海のサッカー試合の応援をしたりと。また、辛い物を一杯食べたり、日本酒を飲んだり、元気の出る映画を観たりということもあれば。また、仕事にも没頭し、VLABのイベントを運営したり、病気の友達の世話をしたりと、常に何かをしていました。安伊子はとても暖かい人柄で、愛情深く、家族、友人、同僚など、すべての人に気遣っていました。安伊子のことを知り、一緒に時間を過ごせることは大変幸運なことでした。

安伊子の遺族は、カリフォルニア州ベルモントに住む献身的で愛情深い夫の西田靖と最愛の息子の西田海、そして日本に住む弟の節田光治の3名です。

安伊子は世界中の何千人もの友人に心から惜しまれることでしょう。安伊子は今、天国で彼女の最愛の父と母と一緒にいます。
