Obituary

Born in Bridgeport, CT, Ed, his parents, the late Lewis and Catherine, Ed's late older brother Bob, and his older sister Ann moved to Menlo Park, CA, in 1954. An ardent baseball fan, Ed enjoyed playing Little League, Babe Ruth League, and high school baseball. After graduating from Menlo Atherton High School, he attended Oregon State University, where he studied mechanical engineering, business, and sociology. Ed then attended San Jose State University, obtaining a B.A. and M.A. in Russian history. While at San Jose State, he enjoyed on-road and off-road motorcycling, became an avid tennis player, and rediscovered a lifelong interest in golf.

Ed then began a long career at SRI International, where he served as Research Director for several programs focusing on when and why consumers adopt new technologies. By the early nineties he began to specialize in new media, working on numerous projects for Hollywood studios and consumer-electronics, computer, paper/publishing, and telecom companies. After leaving SRI, Ed continued as an independent consultant, working with several new-media companies on a wide array of projects. In retirement, he had time to pursue his long-time interest in fine woodworking, building furniture for the family home and that of daughter Jessica.

Ed is survived by his wife Veronica (Ronnie), sister Ann, daughter Jessica, son-in-law Aidan, and cherished family and friends. A private celebration-of-life event will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jdrf.org) .
