Obituary

Resident of Redwood City
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stan Silverstein, a devoted family man, respected Realtor, and longtime Redwood City resident, who passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on September 4, 1937, Stan was a proud graduate of Sequoia High School, Class of 1955, Menlo College, Class of 1957, and the University of Colorado. He went on to become a legendary figure in real estate. Stan owned and operated Silver Realty Company and Silver Management Company in Redwood City for over 60 years, helping countless families and businesses find their homes, spaces, and futures. Known for his unwavering integrity and strong work ethic, he was a member of the Million Dollar Club since 1969, Chairman of the Board of the Presidents Committee CAR, President of SAM CAR in 1974, and a Lifetime Director on the Board of the California Association of Realtors where he earned the trust and admiration of clients and colleagues alike. Stan was a man of honor. His handshake was as solid as any contract, and he built his success on relationships and reputation.

Stan was married to the love of his life, Barbara Silverstein, for over 5O years. Their long and loving marriage was the foundation of a life filled with family, community, many trips, and adventures. For the past 13 years, Stan was fortunate to find love again after Barbara's passing with his dear companion, Deanna Dooley, whose company brought him continued happiness, friendship, and joy.

Stan had a vibrant personality and a deep love for life. He especially enjoyed hosting memorable gatherings at both his Redwood City home and his cherished lakefront home in Incline Village. Time on the water brought him great joy-he loved boating and waterskiing, surrounded by friends and family. Stan also loved driving in the Redwood City parades, escorting many beautiful Miss Californias and his family's Studio S Broadway dancers in his iconic Excalibur. He was a passionate sports fan and athlete. He loved playing golf, watching basketball and football, and cheering on his favorite teams, the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers.

But above all, Stan's greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always made time for those he loved.
He is survived by his daughters: Pamela Bergmann (Joseph), Deborah Starkman (Steven), and Sharon Mcleod (John). He was a proud grandfather to: Ryan Bergmann (Amanda), Anthony Bergmann, Michael Bergmann, Adam Musil (Cassidy), Wyatt Starkman, Landen Starkman, Anton Starkman, Samantha Mcleod, Makaila Mcleod, and Cameron Mcleod.

He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Blake Bergmann, Bryce Bergmann, Bria Bergmann, and Bodhi Bergmann; his brother, Gary Silverstein; sister-in-law, Janet Silverstein and partner Deanna Dooley.

Stan will be remembered for his generosity, wisdom, and the deep love he poured into his family and community. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched and the example he set.

A celebration of Stan's life will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Peninsula Covenant Church, 3560 Farm Hill Blvd., Redwood City, CA. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to attend and honor his memory.
