Sandra Mae Hayes, a beloved resident of Concord, California, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on May 21, 1940, Sandra was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend whose vibrant spirit and love for life touched everyone around her.
Sandra is survived by her two devoted daughters, Shelly Hayes (spouse Tony Azzopardi) and Tamara Stevens (spouse Gerald Stevens). She also leaves behind her five adoring grandchildren: Cherie and Derek Azzopardi, Carmen Stevens, and Austin and Armin Webb, and her nephews: Jason and John DelArroz. Sandra's loving sister, Karen DelArroz (spouse Matt Metcho), also mourns her loss. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Hayes, her youngest daughter Marie Hayes, and her precious grandchild, Noah Stevens.
Sandra was known for her infectious smile that could light up any room. She was a passionate traveler, often embarking on trips to Reno and Las Vegas, places she cherished. Sandra was a very creative woman, and expressed herself by crafting elaborate gifts out of yarn and plastic canvas, making delicious meals alongside family, and sewing matching outfits for her daughters when they were young. Her warmth and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
A gifted singer, Sandra shared her beautiful voice with the Rollingwood Lutheran Church choir in San Pablo, where she also taught Sunday school for many years. Her dedication to her faith and community reflected her kind and giving nature.
Professionally, Sandra was a diligent and valued employee at IKON Solutions, where she worked in Accounts Receivable for 20 years before retiring in 1995.
Sandra's life will be remembered as one filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and strength will forever be carried on by her family and friends.
A celebration of Sandra's life will be at Crippen and Flynn in Redwood City.
