Ruth Hildegard Ferguson died peacefully in her home with family present on Saturday January
6 th 2024, at the age of 99. Ruth was born in San Francisco California. She was second oldest to
four brothers that preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Balboa High school. She
worked at the Emporium on Market Street in downtown San Francisco where she met the love
of her life Arthur. She then became one of the "Ferguson girls". Ruth and Arthur remained in
the Bay Area and raised two daughters, Janet and Arlene. Ruth was quite the shopper; she
enjoyed the time finding the perfect gift or outfit. The family enjoyed vacationing in the
mountains of Twain Harte California. She was an avid fan of the Antique Road Show, and the
perfect hostess when entertaining family and friends. Ruth was a member, along with her
Husband of the San Mateo Elks club, and participated in the "Jolly Girls" lunches. A city girl,
Ruth knew San Francisco like the back of her hand, teaching her care giver Tala, the ins and outs
of San Francisco. She leaves behind her devoted caregivers Tala and Nida. Daughters Janet and
Arlene, her grandsons, Kenneth and wife Solesne, David and wife Lisa and family. She is
survived by her sister-in-law Julie, her brother in-law Bill and wife Jeri along with numerous
nieces and nephews. Private services to be held for Immediate family only. Thank you to all the
