Ruben Panaligan Carandang passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at the age of 86.

Son of the late Arcadio and Justina Carandang, Ruben was born and raised in Tuy, Batangas, Philippines and immigrated to San Francisco, California in 1979, where he worked for the City and County of San Francisco in computer operations for over 19 years. It was in San Francisco where he met his beloved wife of 44 years, Zenaida, and he was proud of the home and life they made together in Redwood City. He loved being a father to his son, Ronald, for the short time his sweet soul was with us. He loved his family, had great friends, neighbors, and coworkers, enjoyed growing fruits and vegetables in his backyard, and he rooted for the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco Giants.

Ruben is survived by his loving wife, Zenaida, his beloved sister Corazon Hernandez, and close cousins and in-laws. He was a dear uncle to his nephews and nieces: Jino & Astrid, Josena & Angelo, Joel & Anna, Jabel & Normandie, Caezario, and Angela & Kerrick. He was great-uncle to Ruth, Emmanuel, Grace, Gabriel, Holly, and Jon. He was predeceased by his son, Ronald "Sonny Boy" and his older brothers, Leandro and Juan.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00am at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, 1040 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont, CA 94002.
