In Loving Memory of Renée Anker
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Renée Stephanie Anker on March 29, 2025. Renée was a cherished member of her community, admired for her generosity, kindness and spirit.
Born in October 1965, Renée was raised in El Granada, California before moving to New Hampshire in the mid 1970s. In the early 1980s she moved to Manhattan where she met her future husband. While in New York Renée attended the Columbia University School of General Studies before leaving to have the first of her three children.
Renée pursued a career in midwifery, becoming a licensed midwife in 2000 and assisting in numerous home births throughout the 1990s and 2000s. Actively involved in furthering the development of her profession, she trained apprentices and created materials to help defend the causes of home birth midwifery and women's reproductive rights.
A devoted spouse of 40 years, mother of three children (all of whom she home schooled) and grandmother of two, Renée found joy in her family and was a source of strength and inspiration to all. Renée's legacy of kindness, resilience and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
