Patricia Dolores
Schott
May 9, 1934 – August 5, 2024
Pat Schott, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, at the age of 90. She created a legacy of nurturing relationships and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by her family and friends.
Born on May 9, 1934, in San Francisco to Retha and Joseph Ebner, Pat was raised on Rosewood Ave. in San Carlos with her sister Joanne Ebner Hertz. Pat attended Notre Dame Elementary and Notre Dame High School, where she met the love of her life, Clarence "Buck" Schott, who was attending Serra High School. After graduating, she worked at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph and then in retail while Buck served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, they were married at St. Charles Church in San Carlos in November of 1953.
Buck and Patsy settled on Eaton Avenue in Redwood City in 1958 to raise their family. Pat, a committed and loving mother, consistently volunteered at her children's schools and never once missed an opportunity to support her children's education by volunteering for field trips, bake sales and chaperoning school activities spanning all five of her kids while they attended St. Matthias School, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Serra High School, and Saint Francis High School.
Family was at the center of Pat's life. She cherished time spent with Buck, her husband of 70 years along with her children, Denise (Pat), Cynthia (Kevin), Dan, Terry (Kristen), Renee (John), grandchildren Jason (Stephanie), Jacob (Chelsey), Kyle, McKenna (Enzo), Lauren, Emma, Katie and Great-grandchildren Ashley and Hunter. She instilled in them values of her Catholic faith, her family being the center of her life, love, hard work, resilience, and perseverance that will continue to guide them through life's journey.
Pat is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Buck, her parents Retha and Joseph Ebner, her in-laws Altha and Clarence Schott Sr., her sister, Joanne, her son Michael, and her daughter, Denise.
In her childhood years, Patsy enjoyed ballet, piano and time spent with her Notre Dame friends in downtown San Carlos. In their early years of marriage she and Buck founded the Teen Club at St. Matthias Parish and enjoyed hosting parties for their friends and family at their home. Pat was an award-winning Beagle breeder and showed Beagles in regional Dog Shows. She was also well-known for running the Snack Shack at the Redwood City Elks Club pool while working tirelessly to pursue her education at Canada College and her 40-year career in tourism as a travel agent. She found great joy in traveling around the world with her husband, children and friends. She and Buck toured 30 countries, took 20 cruises, and explored the United States extensively.
In her later years, Pat cherished a great martini, a quality glass of chardonnay, and creating a welcoming environment in her home. Whether spending time at her cabin in Twain Harte, hosting Crab Cioppino on Christmas Eve, cooking an amazing meal from one of her original recipes, or visiting with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Patsy found joy and fulfillment in every moment. Patsy brought joy and warmth to every encounter. She was known for her ability to create a lovely home that always smelled of her amazing baking and cooking, her quiet confidence in bringing everyone together and continuing the many family traditions she created. Throughout her life, Pat exemplified resilience, courage, and love for her family and church. She was proud to be an alumnus of Notre Dame High School, a member of St. Matthias Parish and the Young Ladies Institute (YLI). She was also very proud of her family and her loving 70-year marriage to her husband, Buck. Pat approached every endeavor with determination and gratitude, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, felt deeply by her beloved family. Pat lived a life filled with passion and purpose in her service to her family and faith. She touched the lives of countless individuals through her nurturing compassion and welcoming generosity. Patsy will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her and being nurtured by her. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the love she shared. Though Pat's physical presence may be gone, her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love, legacy and family traditions will live on for generations to come.
