Obituary

A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.  Patricia was born in Newport News, VA on September 27, 1933 and passed away peacefully at home with her family in East Palo Alto, CA on January 31, 2022.

Patricia is survived by her daughter, MariaElena Apodaca (Frank), grandson, Joseph, sister, Ava Maria Campbell (Timothy), nephew Ryan of Newport News, VA, goddaughter, Jacqueline Harris (Chester) of Redwood City, CA, and godson, Abraham Myrick (Renee') of Philadelphia, PA.  She is preceded in death by her loving husband, "My Tommy" Thomas Eugene Adams, her parents, John and Isabell Williams and brother William C. Williams.

After graduating Morrison High School, Patricia moved to Philadelphia, PA, where she met and married the love of her life (Tommy-san), Thomas Eugene Adams.  They were married for 31 years and they loved music and dancing.  One of her favorite sayings was, "My Tommy and I would dance from the living room to the kitchen and from the kitchen to the living room!"   From their union they had a daughter, MariaElena Apodaca. Patricia worked at Pennsylvania Hospital, starting in 1959 and retired after 37 years.  She was proud to work at the nation's first hospital.  She also took pride in her accomplishment of working her way up from a file clerk in the Record's Department to Supervisor of Business Services.  Patricia was kind hearted, fun, generous and loving.  She was a trustworthy, loyal friend and confidant to many young ladies over the years.  In return, she was loved and respected by many co-workers, family and friends, who affectionately referred to her as "Miss Pat".

Patricia moved to California to live with her daughter and her family in November 2004.  She was immediately embraced and loved by her son-in law, Frank's family.  She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she enjoyed coming to service, singing praises to the Lord and hearing Pastor Campbell preach.  Patricia overcame many health challenges in her later years.  She always praised her Heavenly Father for taking care of her.  She loved the Lord and always put Him first in her life.  She was a true testimony of His loving spirit.  Everyone that met her always spoke of her smile, her kindness and gentle demeanor.  Upon her final days, she was cared for with love, dignity and respect by the Kaiser Hospice Team, her daughter, MariaElena (Love Bug),  her goddaughter, Jackie, her son-in-law, Frank and her grandson, Joseph.

Patricia was a blessing to many. She will be dearly missed and many will cherish her memory: her daughter, her sister, the Apodaca family, the Harris family, the Mt. Zion family, the Settles family, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
