Obituary

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Oscar Aujero Quijano passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024, at the age of 84. Born to Army Staff Sergeant Teodolfo Quijano and seamstress Rosario Quijano, he was the youngest of seven children and grew up surrounded by love and laughter in the province of Angeles, Pampanga, Philippines. With the sponsorship from San Francisco Mayor Elmer Robinson in recognition of his father's military service in WWII, Oscar and his family immigrated to San Francisco in 1954 where he met his wife and built a beautiful life.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Tatiana, with whom he shared a life filled with cherished memories. Together, they raised five wonderful children: Vladimir, Valerie, Vera, Victoria, and Valentino, who brought immense joy and adventure into his life. Their spouses and significant others remember Oscar as a father-in-law with whom they enjoyed spending favorite pastimes together.
Oscar was a proud grandfather, leaving behind fourteen grandchildren: Jacqueline, Taylor, Julia, Keenan, Cassie, Nino, Audrey, LeAndra, Cole, Malcolm, Julien, Sophie, Elsie, and Lucy. He also shared his love, wisdom, and talent with his two great-grandchildren, Keilani and his namesake, Oscar.
Oscar's sister, Flora Espinosa, remains to carry on their family's legacy, along with his close cousins, Isabelita Esparas and Leticia Shelling. He is also survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews, and extended family, each holding a special place in his heart.
A pillar of strength, Oscar served as a US Army Reservist for six years as a young man in his early 20s then dedicated his entire career as a building engineer for the luxury department store, I.Magnin. An incredibly talented and gifted artist, Oscar touched the lives of many with his infectious smile, unparalleled generosity, and unwavering spirit. His legacy will continue through the countless lives he impacted, the love he shared so freely and unconditionally, and the paintings and drawings that hang on the walls of so many.
His family invites friends and loved ones to join in celebrating Oscar's life at St. Pius Church in Redwood City on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 11:00 am. The burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma and reception at Harry's Hofbrau in Redwood City.
In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the Oscar Quijano Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship Fund to benefit aspiring artists at Cañada College in Redwood City, where he spent many years learning and guiding others to paint and draw.
