Obituary

Mr. Marshall Mack Roysden III was born on New Years Day 1946. His family lovingly gives him the unofficial title of the first-born Baby Boomer. He passed peacefully on December 6, 2023 in Los Altos, California.

Papa was born in East Palatka, Florida, to Marshall Mack Roysden II and Edith Roysden. His family was large and had many distinguished members. Mr. Roysden's great great grandfather on his mother's side, Henry Roy, was a member of the 19th Virginia Regiment in the Army of Northern Virginia in the Civil War. Mr. Roy fought at and survived the Battle of Gettysburg as well as Pickett's Charge. Mr. Roysden continued his family's tradition of military service by enlisting in the Army Reserve in 1966.

After the military, Mr. Roysden traveled west and put down roots in California. He worked at several different jobs, and his future wife, Joni, and children, Leo and Marci, were lucky enough to meet him when he worked at Shakey's Pizza. He won them over with his love, kindness, and free pizzas!

Mr. Roysden immediately jumped into being a husband and father. He helped coach Leo and Marci's teams and was always involved in their activities-all while also working at tire stores up and down the the Peninsula.

After retirement, Mr. Roysden joined the Redwood City STAR police auxiliary and served with distinction. He also enjoyed golfing and spoiling his grandchildren and pets in his later years.

Mr. Roysden is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joni Roysden. He is also survived by his children Marci Alvarez Skinner and Leo Alvarez; his daughter-in-Law Marianne Gouveia Alvarez; and his grandchildren Dean Skinner, Juno Skinner, Mickey Skinner, Brandon Briggs and his wife Dilini Briggs, and Maggie Kate Skelton and her husband Andrew Skelton.
