Obituary


Marianne Mensching Severe passed away at Stanford Hospital on February 7, 2024 at the age of 76. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Leland, her son, Scott, his wife, Tracy, and her grandchildren, Ryan, Ally, and Tyler. Marianne was born in Bayshore, New York and spent her childhood in Sayville, New York. She graduated from Marymount College in Terrytown, NY in 1968. Marianne worked in the telecommunication industry for over 30 years starting her career at AT&T in New York and, shortly after, transferring to Pacific Bell where she spent the majority of her career. She finished her long and illustrious career at CellularOne, retiring in 2000. She was a proud resident of Redwood City / Redwood Shores for 45 years and an active member of the community. She served on the board at IHM church, and Junipero Serra and Notre Dame high schools. Marianne loved to be with her family and friends. She was known for her guitar playing and love of sports. On Tuesday, February 20th, there will be a viewing of Marianne starting at 4:30 p.m. and Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m. at Crippen and Flynn in Belmont. A Funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Belmont on Wednesday, February 21st at 11 a.m.
