Lynn H. Garbe-Recknagel

Lynn Hazel Garbe-Recknagel was born in Hartsdale, New York, to parents Lowell and Bertha Laubshire, and passed away peacefully in San Carlos, California. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by those whose lives she touched.

Lynn was raised in Hartsdale, later graduating from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and was an accomplished violinist, playing in many musical groups and productions throughout her life. During her time in New York, she met and married her first husband and father of her four children, Carl W. Garbe. In 1964, they relocated to San Carlos, California, for Carl’s work, where Lynn remained for the rest of her life.

Lynn and Carl divorced around 1980, after which Lynn returned to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Cal State Hayward.

Lynn later married Siegfried Recknagel, and together they shared nearly 20 years of love, companionship, and travel around the world.

She is survived by her children, Cathy, Carl, and Richard, and their spouses; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; as well as many other cherished family members. She was predeceased by her husbands, Carl and Siggi, her daughter Virginia “Ginny,” and great-grandson Logan.

Lynn’s family and friends are invited to honor her memory by reflecting on the moments, stories, and kindness she shared throughout her life.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 149 Manzanita Ave. in San Carlos.
