Lorraine M. Wright, a Redwood City resident who worked in the Sequoia Union High School district, has died. She was 98.

She was born May 10, 1928, in Chicago. She was an active parishioner at St. Pius Catholic Church. Lorraine Wright served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister, liturgy committee chair, former president of the St. Pius Women’s Club, former president of the San Mateo County Catholic Parent Teachers Group and former president of the Archdiocesan Catholic Parent Teacher Group. She was a recipient of the Josie True Award and a St. Pius Festival co-chair and booth chair. She was also a former president of the Atherton Women’s Club.

Lorraine was always active. After being informed by her children that they had enough crocheted blankets, she turned her energy to knitting and contributed hundreds of knitted scarves and hats to those in need. Gardening was also her passion for many years.

Lorraine Wright, who died July 4, 2026, was married to the late John H. Wright of Redwood City. She was the mother of Patricia, Jim, Jack, Bob Wright, Maureen Halter and the late Denis Wright and the late John Joseph Wright. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Jessica and Melissa Wright, Galen Wright and Jennifer, John and Kelsey Halter. Her many friends and family will miss her sense of humor, intelligence and generosity.

There will be a funeral Mass on July 25, 2026, 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1100 Woodside Road, Redwood City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. There will be a private interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
