Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share that Katherine "Kathie" Fosgett has passed away.
Kathie was born in San Jose, CA and spent her earliest years as a traveler due to her father's military service. She attended kindergarten in Tennessee, then the family returned to the Bay Area where they settled in Redwood City, CA. Kathie graduated from San Carlos High School and in later years studied at Canada College.

Kathie has served several local churches and has been very active with non-profit organizations including Peninsula Hills Women's Club, Western Division of The Girls Scouts of America, where she was a Director, Second Harvest Food Banks, and she shared her resources with the less fortunate who lived on the streets. Kathie was always ready and willing to give her time and a helping hand to anyone in need.

During the past 15 years she has served the faith community as Executive Director at First Church Redwood City, Director of The Northern California Conference of the United Church of Christ, as well as President of The Interservice Club Coordinating Council of Redwood City (ISCCC).

Kathie was preceded in death by her parents, brother John "Jack" Adkins, son in law Brad Bertetta and her former husband, Ron Silva. Kathie is survived by her husband Larry Fosgett, brother Wesley Eugene Adkins, daughter Carol McDermott, sons Mark Silva and Michael Silva, granddaughters Christine and Jessica, sister in law Ann Scott, nieces and nephews, and kitties Vinnie and Picasso.

Kathie loved and was devoted to her family, friends, her church families, and her non-profit organizations. She also loved a good party and hosted many legendary 4th of July gatherings in Larry's and her back yard, featuring good food and rock and roll. She was an avid traveler and always appreciated a glass of good red wine!

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Kathie's name to the Pacific School of Religion, www.psr.edu/give/
