Karen Louise Klein Barbara, age 77 of Redwood City, passed peacefully at home on April 6, 2021 after a brief illness.
She was born on July 19, 1943 in San Francisco; a daughter of the late Walter and Vivian Klein and sister of the late Arline Calia.
Karen was proceeded in death by her beloved husband of 41 years, Philip James Barbara Jr. and her daughter Nicole Louise Barbara.
She is survived by her son, Philip Barbara, III and his wife Laura. Proud "Nana" to seven grandchildren, Andrew (Alissa), Brennan, Gwendolyn, Jeffrey, Joseph, and Philip IV; four great grandchildren, Austin, Fredric, Mazikeen and Vincent. She leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Karen was an elementary school teacher for 40+ years, retiring from Redwood City School District. During her retirement she loved to travel, volunteered as a docent at Filoli and ushered for multiple local live theatres. She had a vivacious personality, infectious laugh and always ready for a new adventure.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Susan G. Komen or the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
Private Services will be held on April 16 th at 11:30am. You are welcome to attend virtually, using the online link below at the time of service. After services have concluded a recording will be available to view at a later time.
