Johnathan B.
Koehl
May 19, 1978 – February 1, 2026
Johnathan Bruno Koehl
Johnathan was best known for his physical strength through his passion for
Powerlifting, and for his generosity and kindness to others. He knew what he liked, and
he did it his way.
He would spend hours daily at the gym, taking time to help others, especially the youth who were new at powerlifting. He would volunteer his time to teach them proper form to
not only prevent injury but to produce massive results. The gym was like home to
Johnathan.
Johnathan was also a very generous soul, occasionally offering his home to friends in
need and was particularly compassionate toward the homeless.
He was a lover of fast cars, music, organic and healthy food... did I mention raw
oysters? And an occasional donut splurge of apple fritters and chocolate old-
fashions. He also developed a taste for Filipino food! AND he loved his Cable TV
and subscribing to any channel that would offer new, exciting adventure-packed movies.
A stroke and open-heart surgery two years ago changed his life dramatically as he lost
the use of his left arm and hand with a limited ability to walk with a quad cane. His
mission and purpose was diminished and he is now at peace after a turbulent two-year
journey.
Johnathan's parents, Robert & Martina Koehl, preceded Johnathan in passing. He is
survived by his Aunt Tracy McGuinness, Uncle Guy Garner, Cousin Marty, Cousins
Phillip McGuinness & Paul McGuinness and his partner of 21 years, Margaret Irving.
Margaret had the gift of being his caregiver - caring for, loving him and being by his side
in the last years of his life.
