Obituary

Isobel A. ENGLERT (née O'Hearne). Born Aug. 21,1927 in Mt. Vernon WA to Isobel Margaret O'Hearne (née O'Leary) and James O'Hearne. She passed away early Monday morning Nov. 18, 2024 in Redwood City CA at the age of 97. Isobel grew up in Mt. Vernon surrounded by her loving family composed of a grandmother, parents, brother, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from the University of Washington, and received a master's degree at Simmons College in Boston MA. She married Walt Englert in 1951, and after several moves, they bought a home in San Carlos CA where they lived for many years. Isobel was a devoted spouse, loving mother of seven children, and a source of inspiration and positivity for those around her. She worked for the Redwood City Elementary School District for 15 years, retiring in 1994. She was preceded in death by her husband Walt and daughter Barbara. Survivors include her children Wally Englert (Mary), Jim Englert, Cathy Wandro (Bob), Tricia Englert, John Englert (Jamie), Paul Englert (Maresa), and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church, 880 Tamarack Ave., San Carlos CA. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Los Altos CA. Remembrances may be made to St. Anthony's Padua Dining Room , 3500 Middlefield Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025.
