Early Life and Family
Ida Figone passed away peacefully at her home on April 4. She was the daughter of Dante and Theresa Ceccotti and was born in Waukegan. In 1942, Ida moved to California and grew up in San Francisco’s North Beach neighborhood, where she resided for 34 years. She graduated from Academy of the Presentation in 1950 and began her professional career working for the telephone company and Purity Stores in San Francisco. On June 14, 1951, she married John (Jack) Figone Jr. at Saints Peter and Paul Church.
Community Involvement and Volunteer Work
After relocating to Redwood City with her family, Ida led an active life and became deeply involved in her community. She was a devoted member of St. Charles Church, where she contributed by helping to count weekly offerings. Ida participated in numerous organizations, including Caring Hands, ICF, Little Children’s Aid, Victoria Colonia, Motion Picture Guild, Salesian Boys Club, Filoli Volunteer, and served as co-president of Figone Travel. Her passion for volunteering was evident in her 25 years of service at Sequoia Hospital and 10 years at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, where she lovingly crocheted baby blankets and served as a cuddler.
Family and Legacy
Ida is survived by her husband of 75 years, John (Jack) Figone Jr., as well as their five children: John Figone (Eileen), Joanette Chiuchiarelli (Claudio), Mariella Hermosillo (Jeff), Jennifer Taylor (Todd), and Jonathan Figone (Jennifer). Her legacy also includes 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Ida was the sister of Janice Ceccotti and was preceded in death by Alio Ceccotti.
A Life of Faith and Service
Ida’s life was a testament to her deep faith, love, and commitment to serving others. May she rest in eternal peace.
