Fred Jennings Weiss

Fred Weiss passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, following complications associated with old age. He was 86 years old.

Born on October 27, 1939, in Endicott, New York, Fred was the son of Fred and Gladys Weiss and the second of four children. Endicott remained close to his heart throughout his life, staying connected with many of his childhood friends over the decades.

After completing trade school, Fred spent several years living abroad before eventually settling in San Jose, California. There he met and married the love of his life, Deborah Weiss (Berkman). Together they built a life rooted in family, friendship, and community.

An engineer by profession, Fred was known for his sharp mind, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. Fred’s love wasn't big and loud; his steadfast presence built connections to all those he interacted with, building a community with gifts of his time, his talents, and a consistent reminder that actions speak louder than words.

He will be missed and remembered by many, but to his daughters, he will be remembered as the dad who always ate the yellow Lifesavers, who showed up to countless choir performances and sang the loudest in his baritone voice, who supported every Girl Scout activity, and who made the best banana pancakes. He was quick to offer an answer to any question—whether it was right or not. He taught countless card games, and offered many driving lessons but more than anything, he loved his family.

Fred is survived by his daughters, Tracey Weiss and Cori Weiss; their partners, Melissa Weiss and Craig McGree; his beloved grandchildren, Tanner, Reese, and Ferris Weiss; and his sisters, Beverly Walker and Patricia Simoni. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Weiss, and his sister, Margaret Weiss. He also leaves behind extended family and many lifelong friends.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Mission Hospice & Home Care in gratitude for the compassionate care they provided during Fred's final days.
