Fletcher B.
Cocquyt
May 24, 1972 – June 18, 2021
Fletcher Bernard Cocquyt was a beloved father, son, brother and friend. Too early he left this world on June 18, 2021 at the age of 49 in Redwood City, California.
A "tekkie" at heart, Fletch bought his first computer, a Commodore 64, with newspaper route savings. He soon amassed a hoard of floppy disc games that was the envy of all of the neighborhood children in the 1980s. After completing a Computing Science degree at the University of Alberta, Fletch's adventurous spirit and work opportunities led him to such diverse places as Bermuda and California where he ultimately settled. A lover of sports and the outdoors, he enjoyed mountain biking, golfing, skiing and watching basketball and hockey. He appreciated good food, especially if it was spicy or seafood.
He loved and was immensely proud of his children, Sasha and Alex. He loved to play board games and engage in science discussions with them, and he regularly helped with math homework. He was always at their sports games, cheering them on. With Alex, he watched almost every episode of How Things Are Made, and he cherished the daily drives to school with Sasha. He will be lovingly missed by them, his mother (Diane), younger siblings (Denise and Stuart), and extended family in Canada, Australia and New Zealand. He was predeceased by his father, Henry.
Fletch was a gentle, thoughtful and generous soul. He navigated life and impacted those he cared for in his own quiet and graceful way. He will be forever loved and missed beyond measure.
A small celebration of life for close family was held on Friday June 25, 2021 in Half Moon Bay, California.
