Enrique J.
Perez
August 10, 1941 – March 28, 2026
Enrique Jauregui Perez was born on August 10, 1941, in Temacapulín, Mexico, to Juan Perez and Elodia Jauregui, the eldest of eight children. In1956, his family immigrated to the United States, settling in the San Francisco Bay Area. He attended high school in South San Francisco before having to help support his parents and siblings. He began working in residential construction as an apprentice and went on to become a skilled carpenter.
In 1962, he was drafted into the United States Army and stationed in Alaska during the height of the Cold War. His leadership and dedication quickly set him apart, rising from Private to Sergeant in just 16 months. During his time in the Army, he served as a weapons squad leader and was twice recognized as Soldier of the Week and Soldier of the Day for his company. After extending his service, he returned to San Francisco, serving in both active and reserve roles before being honorably discharged in 1967. He then continued working in construction before beginning a 45-year career with Pacific Gas & Electric. (PG&E)
In 1969, he married the love of his life, Altagracia Yñiguez, and together they built their family in South San Francisco, raising three sons before moving to Belmont California in 1986. For more than four decades, his home was always open, welcoming cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, a place defined by generosity, and love.
One of his greatest joys was taking his children, nieces, and nephews on road trips, packing everyone into his Pace Arrow motorhome for camping trips, skiing adventures, desert outings, and long drives to Mexico. These trips became some of the most cherished memories for all who were lucky enough to be a part of them.
In 2001, he began one of the most cherished chapters of his life as a grandfather. Known lovingly as "Tata" to his three granddaughters, he could often be found on weekends cheering from the sidelines at their cheerleading and softball games, just as he once did for his sons. Being a grandfather was one of his greatest joys, and he treasured every moment.
To know him was to know kindness. Those who met him liked him; those who truly knew him loved him. He was generous, loving, and deeply devoted - a man who gave endlessly of himself to his family and friends. He was someone who could be counted on, who would do whatever he could to help those in his life.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Altagracia Perez; his three sons, David, Gregorio, and Enrique Jr.; Daughter-in-Law, Melissa and his three granddaughters, Audriana, Madison, and Ava.
