Obituary

Dorothy Isabel (Scrimshire) Grass
Nov. 11, 1933 - Feb. 24, 2023
Dorothy was born in Willow, Arkansas to Jesse and Lillian Scrimshire in 1933. Her family moved to Washington when she was in her teens. She worked at the local movie theater as an usher while attending Kelso High School where she graduated in 1951. After high school she worked for Weyerhaeuser in Longview, Wa.
Dorothy met Erwin through friends when he was stationed at Fort Lewis. He was transferred to Alaska and remained in contact writing letters until he was discharged from the Army in 1952. They married in 1954 at her mother's home in Longview. Dorothy moved to California where Erwin and his family resided and soon started their own family.
Dorothy loved her family, cooking, gardening and her dogs. She was an exceptional baker and made the most amazing pies and jam. She spent many hours gardening and tending to her large collection of cymbidium orchids. She bred and showed Dobermans for many years and never lost her love for the breed.
Dorothy passed at our family home in Atherton at age 89. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, five children and five grandchildren. She is and always will be truly missed.
