Domingo Villanueva passed away peacefully on May 26th, 2026. He was loved and cared for, always surrounded by his family and friends. Domingo originated from Michoacán, Mexico. He arrived in the US in 1955 under the Bracero Program. He resided in Redwood City for 66 years. His initial employment was in agriculture, working in the fields of Santa Barbara and Tracy. He was soon promoted to kitchen work. He helped in every area of the kitchen where meals were prepared for all the field workers. In later years, this kitchen work led him to his lifelong passion, a professional Chef. He loved cooking, especially Italian food. He worked at Fabbro’s Restaurant for over 35 years, and everyone loved his cooking! Domingo enjoyed going to the horse races at Bay Meadows with family and friends. He never stopped loving his Mexican ranchera music. Everyone knew his favorite songs and always played them for him to enjoy. He had a good sense of humor and was always cheerful. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 71 years, Margarita Lara Villanueva, his parents, Amalia (Garcia) and Jesus Villanueva, and all his brothers and sisters. Domingo was the last family member living to the age of 94. He is survived by his sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. He will be missed and remain forever in our hearts.
