Obituary

Diane Masetti
December 10, 1943 - May 20, 2025
San Carlos, California

Diane Lucy Masetti passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 20, 2025 at the age of 81.

Diane was born on December 10, 1943 in Palo Alto, California. She was raised in Los Altos by her loving parents, Henry and Theresa Bellomi, with her older sister, Rose, and her little brother, Alan. Diane lived in Los Altos her entire childhood until she met her husband, Joe.

Diane and Joe married in 1963. They bought a house in San Carlos that same year, where they lived for their 55 years of marriage and raised their two sons, Joe and Jim. Diane continued to live in that home after her husband's passing in 2018, making her a resident of San Carlos for over 60 years. Diane was lovingly referred to as "Noni" by her five grandchildren, Tony and Sarah, children of Joe Jr. and Diana Masetti, and Kathryn, Lauryn and Ryan, children of Jim and Susan Masetti.

Diane worked as an administrative assistant for 35 years, initially with Philco Ford. She stepped out of the workforce when her boys were young, but was recruited to work as the principal's assistant for Central School in San Carlos in 1981. That started a long career with various education institutions, including with the San Carlos School District in Special Services and the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District. She spent almost 14 years working as the assistant to the Principal, President and Director of Admissions of Serra High School in San Mateo. She loved the Serra community as her extended family. She could often be seen on a Saturday night at the entrance gate taking tickets to a Serra football or basketball game. Throughout her life, Diane volunteered with various organizations and events, including the PTA in San Carlos, ultimately serving as the President of the Coordinating Council representing San Mateo County on the State 17th District PTA. She was a long-time member of the St. Charles Parish in San Carlos and loved studying the Bible with the Women's Catholic Scripture Study of San Mateo County. More recently, she worked for many years as a volunteer for San Carlos Hometown Days and as a docent for the Museum of San Carlos History. She was an avid supporter of the Giants, Warriors and 49ers, making sure her loved ones knew when a game was on television.

Diane will be most remembered for her capacity to love and help others. She loved her family and friends deeply and was always quick to help others. She was a force-of-nature when it came to raising her Joey and Jimmy, and extended that love to her daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces and nephews (and their children), friends and neighbors (who she appreciated so much).

Diane is survived by her children and their spouses, Joe Jr. and Diana, Jim and Susan, her five grandchildren, Tony, Sarah, Kathryn, Lauryn and Ryan, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Alberta and Donald del Nevo, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ned and Tonia Masetti, and her many nephews and nieces and all of their children, all of whom will greatly miss her love and sense of humor.

A liturgy service will be held at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel, 400 Woodside Rd., Redwood City, on Thursday, June 5 at 6:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 4:00 PM. A memorial service and reception will be held at St. Charles Church, 880 Tamarack Ave., San Carlos, on Friday, June 6 at 10:00 AM.
