In Loving Memory of Clarence "Buck" Schott
Buck Schott, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024 at the age of 91. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by his family and friends.
Born on September 21, 1932, to Altha and Clarence Schott Sr. in San Francisco, Buck lived on Clement Street before the family relocated to San Carlos and later Redwood City. He attended Serra High School, where he met the love of his life, Patricia Ebner, who was attending Notre Dame High School. After graduation, Buck served as a radio operator and security officer in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he studied telecommunications at the College of San Mateo. Buck began his career with Pacific Bell, working on the Peninsula for 32 years before moving to IBM ROLM, where he spent the remaining 12 years of his telecommunications career.
Buck and Patsy settled on Eaton Avenue in Redwood City in 1958 to raise their family. Buck, a committed father, consistently coached his children's sports teams and never once missed any of their sporting events, spanning all five of his kids while they attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Serra High School, and Saint Francis High School.
Family was at the center of Buck's life. He cherished time spent with Patricia, his wife of 70 years along with his children Cynthia (Kevin), Dan, Terry (Kristen), Renee (John), grandchildren Jason (Stephanie), Jacob (Chelsey), Kyle, McKenna (Enzo), Lauren, Emma, Katie and Great- grandchildren Ashley and Hunter. He instilled in them values of faith, love, patriotism, resilience, and perseverance that will continue to guide them through life's journey.
Buck is preceded in death by his parents Altha and Clarence, his in-laws Retha and Joseph Ebner, his son Michael, and his daughter, Denise.
In his younger years, Buck enjoyed golfing, cycling, spending time at the Redwood City Elks Club, and traveling with his wife and children. He and Patsy visited 30 countries, took 20 cruises, and explored the United States extensively. In his later years, Buck cherished a great martini, engaging conversations, listening to jazz music, and supporting his favorite sports teams, the San Francisco Giants, the Forty-Niners, and the Serra Padres. Whether spending time at his cabin in Twain Harte, collecting unique golf balls, traveling the world, or being with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Buck found joy and fulfillment in every moment.
Buck brought joy and warmth to every encounter. He was known for his welcoming smile, wonderful sense of humor and unique ability to tell a great story. Throughout his life, Buck exemplified resilience, courage, and love for his family and country. He was an alumnus of Serra High School and was extremely proud to be part of the Serra Padre community. Buck was also proud to be a Military veteran who served in the United States Army. Buck approached every endeavor with determination and gratitude. He leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration, felt deeply by his beloved family. Buck lived a life filled with passion and purpose. He touched the lives of countless individuals through his unwavering compassion and generosity.
Buck will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the many lives he touched and the love he shared. Though Buck's physical presence may be gone, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing that his love and legacy will endure for generations to come.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 14, 2024 at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 1685 Cordilleras Rd. Redwood City, Ca. 94062
