Charleen Lombardi passed away peacefully at the age of 92 in San Carlos, CA on Monday, March 3, 2025 after a brief bout with cancer. Born Mary Charleen Jones on July 9, 1932 in San Jose, CA to Madlyn and Charles Jones, she was a fifth generation Californian. She attended St. Leo's Grammar School, Notre Dame High School, and San Jose State University.


Charleen was an adventurous woman, and spent many of her early years traveling the world. She also had a gift for retail, and it was while working at the Emporium in San Jose that she met Harry Kanelopoulos. They married in 1958 and together raised five children until his death in 1984. Charleen was devoted to both her family and the Catholic faith. She shared her faith with her children and was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Daly City. Charleen married John Lombardi in 1997 and shared many happy years with their combined family until he passed away in 2019.


Charleen was the rock and matriarch of both her immediate and extended family, including her six nieces and nephews, their families, and her 12 grandchildren. She hosted backyard barbeques, holiday gatherings, and was endlessly interested in their lives and accomplishments. They thrived in her spotlight. She is survived by sons Chris (Rebecca), Michael (Tina), Dean (Lauren/deceased), Ted (Lisa), and daughter, Andrea. She is predeceased by her older sister, Gloria.


Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 3 at 10:30 am at St. Charles Church, 880 Tamarack Avenue in San Carlos.
