Aurelia G
Hernandez
May 28, 1925 – January 26, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Aurelia Gil Hernandez on January 26, 2025, 4 months shy of her 100th birthday. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by her daughters, who were blessed to be by her side. A woman of grace, strength, and boundless love, she was the heart of our family and a source of light to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Born on May 28, 1925, in the state of Michoacán, Mexico, she legally immigrated to the United States in August 1959. She met and married the love of her life, Juan Francisco Hernandez, who proceeded her in death. Throughout her remarkable life, she exemplified love, strength, and resilience.
A passionate cook and gifted crocheter, mom had a unique talent for bringing people together around her kitchen table, where meals were much more than just food—they were experiences filled with warmth and laughter. She shared her home with parrots and dogs, which brought her immense joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Mom's most cherished role was that of a mother and caregiver. The love and support she provided to her family was unmatched, and her legacy of nurturing will live on through her children.
Aurelia delighted in the simple pleasures of life, particularly visiting with family and friends. Her home was always open, and her heart even more so, creating a welcoming environment for all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters, Margaret & Irma Hernandez, and her son, Michael Hernandez. While we mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold.
Visitation will be held at Crippen & Flynn, 400 Woodside Road, Redwood City on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 3:30 p.m. onward and a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Pius Catholic Church, 1100 Woodside Road, Redwood City on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo.
We will forever carry her spirit in our hearts, holding on to the love, wisdom, and joyful memories she graciously shared with us. Rest in peace, dearest Mom.
