With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Arlene Madelene Calvillo at the age of 82 years old. She was a native of San Francisco, California and passed away peacefully in her home of 50 years, in Redwood City, California on March 23, 2026.
Born on April 16, 1943, in San Francisco, California to Ralph and Jovine Nappi. Arlene was the oldest of two children. Arlene attended St. Michael's Grammar School and graduated from St. John's High School in San Francisco, California in 1960.
Arlene married Carlos Calvillo in 1961 at St.Peter's Catholic Church in San Francisco, California who is predeceased. She is survived by their children, Stephen Calvillo, (daughter in law, Esther Calvillo), Christina Statham, (son in law, Ron Statham), and Cynthia Mitchell. She is survived by her sister Linda Mahaffe, her grandchildren, Marissa Dekens (grandson in law, Jesse Dekens), Justin Mitchell, Jesse Calvillo, and Hannah Lopez, (grandson in law, Christian Lopez) and 2 great grandchildren, Beau Lopez, Lucas Dekens. She is also survived by her niece Donalin Gumm and her (husband, Brian Gumm).
She built a beautiful life around her home and cherished her family. She is known for her kindness, strength, and love. She was a caring, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, mother in law, and friend to all of us.
She was employed at California State Automobile Association for 30 years as a Roadside Service Supervisor. She enjoyed her job and the people she worked with.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 17, 2026 at St. Peter's Catholic Church at 10:00am, 1245 Alabama Street (between 24th & 25th Streets), San Francisco, California. Interment will follow at The Italian Cemetery at 540 F. Street, Colma, California at 12:00pm.
Lunch will be held at Boulevard Cafe, 2 Poncetta Drive Daly City, California from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Please RSVP if attending the luncheon at stevecalvillo63@gmail.com
