Obituary

Annie Rae Griffin began her life on September 19, 1925 in Ethel, Louisiana . She was born to the late Mary Lee and Charlie Griffin.

Annie went to Chaneyville school in Zachary, Louisiana. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Stranger Hope Baptist Church in Pride, Louisiana, where she attended with her mother and siblings.

She later met Felton Spears in 1941 and married him in 1943, to that union 14 children were born. Seven children were born in Zachary, Louisiana and Seven children were born in San Francisco, California, after they relocated there.

In 1963 the family moved to Menlo Park, California where both Annie and Felton resided until both of their deaths.

Annie was a homemaker most of her life, always making sure her children came first and were being taken care of. Later as her children began to grow up and become more independent she decided to work part-time as a caregiver and provided after school care for her grandchildren.

Annie enjoyed and loved being a grandmother to all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Momo" to them and her extended family.

Annie Rae Spears leaves wonderful memories to cherish forever through her 12 children, Ethel Dixon, Yvonne Woods, and Samuel Spears, of Portland, Oregon, Felton Spears Jr, Joyce A. Spears-Love, Robert Spears, Charlie Spears, Wilbert Spears, Margaret Thomas, Carolyn Spears, Rosalie Nolley, and Nina Spears-Mentillo, all of California. One son Albert Spears Sr, and one daughter Hilary Ego preceded her in death.

She also leaves to cherish her memories, two sisters, Fannie Moore of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Lorraine Moore, of Clinton, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.

To cherish her Grandmother memories are 41 grandchildren, 69 great grandchildren, and 17 great great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
