Alfred Paul
Meyer
October 1, 1932 – March 24, 2026
Alfred Paul Meyer of Belmont, CA, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 at the age of 93. He was born on October 1, 1932 to Leo and Hedwig Meyer in Gollmütz, Germany. After surviving the very difficult wartime years of WWII in Germany, he began in the 1950’s a 20+ year career with Volkswagenwerk in Germany, then Volkswagen Canada, VW of America, VW Interamericana (Central America, the Caribbean Islands, and some northern countries in South America) & VW del Caribe as a Parts Manager and then Vice President. He was a highly regarded businessman and boss. The whole family has always driven German automobiles since.
Alfred married the love of his life Liliane De Fabrique Saint-Tours in 1964 after meeting on a small boat trip in Puerto Rico. Just three months after only knowing each other for a couple of weeks. A true love story! Together they shared 62 wonderful years. He lived an adventurous full life living in locales such as Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas before settling in the SF Bay Area in the 1970’s. Many travels were also done to the Caribbean where his wife was from as well as Germany to visit his family. Plus family road trips through the western US states and Mexico. He also enjoyed many yearly trips with his best “amigos” to play card and/or dice games and sometimes fishing. Alfred loved cooking/bbq, the beach, classical music (Beethoven/Mozart/Haydn/Dvorak), reading (Hemingway, German authors and world history) and watching westerns, classic tv shows & sports (SF Giants & SF 49ers).
He was known for his kindness, generosity, intelligence and work ethic. An overall wonderful father and husband as well as a great friend, brother and uncle to others. He is survived by his wife, Liliane; his daughters, Astrid, Doris and Ingrid; and his sisters Barbel and Barbara.
