Obituary

Alexander (Al) Findlay, passed from this life in a peaceful sleep September 6, 2021in his San Carlos home, with his loving wife Dulcie by his side. He fought a long and heroic battle against Parkinson's Disease with dignity and grace.

Al is survived by wife Dulcie Findlay; his son, Scott Findlay and wife Laurie; his daughter, Denise Wishman and husband Michael; 3 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. His sister Nancy Pordon also survives him. Al was preceded in death by his first wife Joan Findlay. He was deeply saddened by the death of his second son, Robert Findlay, several years ago.

The son of Alexander Findlay, Sr. and Agnes May (Livingston), he grew up in Daly City graduating from Jefferson High School in 1950. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. His time as a catcher was happy and eventful, until Uncle Sam called him to serve his country. While stationed in Germany he led an active soldier's life and the opportunity to play baseball on the Army team.

Returning from the service he was employed for 25 years by Pacific Telephone - AT&T, where he made lifelong friendships. Because of his love for the sport, Al coached little league baseball teams, he was always proud of "his kids" and honored them when they won major championships. He continued pursuing an active life and moved on to establishing his own telecommunications company.

A true athlete filled with high energy and numerous activities, Al loved power boating and spent many happy years on the Delta. He and Dulcie enjoyed their frequent trips to Palm Desert and the Wine Country. Watching his favorite team, the Giants, was a large part of his life. Al cheered the Giants' winning Sunday before his passing, a true fan to the end. An enthusiastic 49er Faithful, he and Dulcie were season ticket holders and enjoyed going to their seats in Candlestick Park and Levi's Stadium to see the games.

Al loved his family and friends, and he was also loved by so many. He will be missed every day, but never forgotten. His wife and family are deeply grateful to Al's caregiver Jeffrey Mitchell, whose loving devotion always kept him smiling, giving him tender comfort and care.

If honoring AL, gifts may be made to the Jr. Giants Baseball Program, or the Peninsula Humane Society.
