PAOLO DOMENICO BLANDINO ~ May 23, 1931 – March 19, 2018

Resident of San Mateo (and San Francisco) Paolo Domenico Blandino passed away at peace on March 19, 2018.  He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. His passions included spending time with family and friends, cooking his favorite Italian meal, attending dinner dances and social club events, gardening and watching his grandchildren grow up.

Paolo was born May 23, 1931 in Augusta, Italy (Sicily) where met his wife of 60+ years, Maria Di Modica Blandino.  They lived an idyllic life raising their two children Giuseppe and Giosanna in a small town where "everyone knows your name".  He worked as a chemist at Esso Italia, and was a Volunteer Fireman before the family decided to move to San Francisco in 1967 to join his parents, Giuseppe and Giuseppa Blandino.  He enjoyed a career as a Senior Chocolate Maker for Blommer Chocolate Company for nearly 30 years until his retirement in the 1990's.

Paolo was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Giosanna Blandino Santana in 2009. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria (Mariuccia) Blandino, devoted son Giuseppe Blandino (Julie), son in-law Tony Santana (Donna), adoring grandchildren Miranda and Jake Santana, brothers Joseph Blandino (Rose) and Salvatore Blandino (Paula), sisters Fina Viasicca, Josephine Balistreri (John) and Adele Blandino.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Vigil Service on April 2, 7pm at Crippen and Flynn (Belmont), Life Tribute at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church (San Mateo)  April 3, 11am-Reception to follow at Donato's in Redwood City, Interment April 4, 10am-Italian Cemetery (Colma).
